2017年、EP『potatopotato』のリリースをきっかけに活動を開始。2019年、作曲・ボーカルを担当するちあきの米ニューヨーク移住を機に、オンラインを拠点とする制作体制へ移行した。2022年発表のEP『海』は、主にちあきとキーボードのカタヤマミチヒロによる東京とニューヨークを結ぶオンラインセッションから生まれ、距離と時差を超えて完成した作品となった。その際、サポートとして参加していたギタリスト八谷継人、丸の内慎太郎の正式加入を経て、本作『模様』では生楽器にフォーカスしたシネマティックなフォークへと変化した。さらにパーカッショニスト石井萌々子の加入により、音楽の情景はより鮮明な輪郭を帯びるようになった。

Formed in Tokyo in 2017, Naminoyo is a cinematic post-folk band bridging Tokyo and New York. After composer and vocalist Chiaki relocated to the U.S. in 2019, the project evolved into a cross-continental collaboration shaped by distance and time zones. Their sound blends nylon-string warmth, spacious arrangements, and restrained emotional intensity. With the addition of guitarists Tsuguto Hachiya and Shintaro Marunouchi, and percussionist Momoko Ishii, Naminoyo deepened into a more organic, instrument-focused ensemble. Drawing inspiration from Sufjan Stevens and Crosby, Stills & Nash, their music unfolds quietly—intimate, atmospheric, and luminously cinematic.
